  • The uterine tube is 10 to 12 cm long and has three parts, from the ovary inward: infundibulum with its fimbriae, then the ampulla, then the isthmus.
  • Fertilisation takes place at the ampullary–isthmic junction — the single most commonly asked location in the chapter.
  • It can only happen if the sperm and the ovum are transported there at the same time, which is why not every act of intercourse leads to fertilisation.

Chapter numbering moved when NCERT rationalised its books in 2023 and the NTA has revised the NEET syllabus since, so this maps by unit and title. It is a study aid, not a syllabus.
