Vagina

A distensible muscular canal running from the cervix downward and forward to open in the vestibule of the vulva. It is the internal canal; the vulva is the external genitalia and the two are not the same.

How to spot it. A muscular canal running from the cervix down and forward to open in the vestibule.

What it does. Carries menstrual flow, receives the penis in intercourse, and forms the birth canal.

Where it sits. Behind the bladder and urethra and in front of the rectum. The vagina is the internal canal; the vulva is the external genitalia and is not the same thing.
