NEET points

Class 11 · Unit V · Human Physiology · Locomotion and Movement

  • The adult human skeleton has 206 bones: 80 axial and 126 appendicular.
  • The axial 80: skull 22 (8 cranial and 14 facial), 6 ear ossicles, 1 hyoid, 26 vertebrae, 1 sternum and 24 ribs.
  • The skull articulates with the first vertebra, the atlas, which in turn pivots on the axis and allows the head to turn.

Chapter numbering moved when NCERT rationalised its books in 2023 and the NTA has revised the NEET syllabus since, so this maps by unit and title. It is a study aid, not a syllabus.
